After Tsintotas, Giakoumakis, Lopes, Klonaridis, Livaja, and Cosic, AEK completed their seventh signing of the summer with Arnar Traustason and their fourth in five days. The 24-year old signed a one-year loan deal with AEK from Rapid Vienna after cruising past the medical tests on Tuesday.
The deal includes a €1 million buyout clause if AEK wish to purchase the player at the end of the season. The contract also states that if AEK do make a permanent move for the Iceland international, Rapid Vienna will hold a 20% re-sale clause if Traustason moves to another club after AEK. The winger will join the rest of the team in Poland for pre-season training on Wednesday.
Traustason began his career in Iceland and after being named the most talented player in the league for 2013, he made a move to IFK Norrkoping in 2014. There he made 56 appearances for the club while scoring 16 goals. Last season, he signed with Rapid Vienna where he made 33 appearances, scored 3 goals, and gave 4 assists.
He has played with all of Iceland’s national teams and made his debut with the Men’s team in 2015. He has made 13 appearances for his nation and has scored five goals, including one against Greece in a friendly match in March 2015.
