Created by Dikefalos 1924, the company which is managing the project, the website www.agiasofia.today allows AEK supporters from all over the world to enjoy two live webcams of the construction site. The website regularly publishes updates on the arena’s progress in Nea Filadelfia, with news and videos concerning the project’s development giving AEK’s fans a chance to consider themselves a part of the club’s homecoming.
In March, as previously reported on AGONAsport, AEK owner Dimitris Melissanidis paid a visit to the site and was impressed with the state of play. Notable progress has been achieved, meaning that if things continue to go to plan, the Enosis will begin playing at their brand new stadium in the 2019/2020 season.
Built on the same location where the demolished Nikos Goumas Stadium once stood, the Agia Sofia Stadium will become AEK’s new home in Nea Filadelfia, a region situated to the north of Athens. The club only received planning permission in 2017, but Melissanidis is eager for his beloved AEK to start playing at the arena in 2019. The stadium’s foundations are firmly in place and further progress is being made.
The site’s two live webcams are available 24 hours a day with fans able to see the construction process for themselves, no matter which country they live in.
