Recently, in early March, two Greek soldiers (Sergeant Dimitris Kouklatzis and Lieutenant Angelos Miretodis) were captured by the Turks when they stumbled upon Turkish territory. Turkey then decided to imprison the pair, claiming they were attempting espionage against the country. The Greeks were naturally outraged, stating that the soldiers went off-route because of poor weather conditions. They are still locked in a Turkish prison at this moment in time.

In a show of unity, AEK Athens decided to prepare a signed club shirt for prisoner Dimitris Kouklatzis, who is known to be an AEK supporter. Alongside the players’ autographs, the words “Soon with us” were written on the shirt between the Greek flag and the AEK emblem.

It’s not known whether Kouklatzis’ family will take the shirt to him in prison in order to boost his morale, or whether they’ll simply inform him that his beloved club are fully behind him.
