After notching 19 points to lead AEK in scoring, Mike Green was named the MVP of the FIBA Champions League during the awards ceremony following AEK’s 100-94 defeat of AS Monaco.
Green dominated the first three quarters are he spearheaded the AEK attack by pouring in 18 of his 19 points on the nights in the first three quarters.
Speaking to reporters after AEK claimed the title, Green echoed his thanks to his teammates and coaches.
“Just want to thank my teammates and the coaches, for having patience with me after my performance on Friday, and for giving me another chance to perform on this stage. It worked out for everybody,” Green told reporter post-game.
Unlike his performance in the Final, Green didn’t have the best shooting nights on Friday as he tallied just seven points in the semi-final win over UCAM Murcia.
Green proved his importance in the AEK lineup certainly as his performance helped to make-up for a quiet night from Manny Harris as the American was held to just 9 points on the night.
With Green being named the Final Four MVP, AEK officially swept the MVP awards in this season’s FIBA Champions League after Harris was named the season MVP in the end-of-season awards ceremony on Saturday night.
