Alanyaspor confirm Siopis transfer
Manolis Siopis has become the latest Greek footballer to join Alanyaspor, leaving Aris to pen a three-year deal with the Turkish side.
On Wednesday, Alanyaspor released this following statement on their official website:
“Alanyaspor Football Club has signed a three-year contract with 25-year-old Greek midfielder, Emmanouil Siopis. He has penned a deal with our club after playing for Aris last season.”
Siopis commented on the transfer:
“First of all, I want to thank the club president. He made a huge effort for this transfer to happen. For the first time in my career, I will play football abroad. This is important for me and I want to continue to be involved with the national team. There are two fellow Greek players here? Yes, I’ve only been here for three days, but it’s like Greece. Before I came here, I spoke with Georgios Tzavellas, and I watched some games. He told me that there’s a good training centre. I had lots of messages from the fans telling me to come here.”
Alanyaspor activated Siopis’ Aris release clause of 500,000 euros to pen a three-year contract with the defensive midfielder. Olympiacos receive 30% of that amount.
Siopis will reportedly earn a grand total of 2.1 million over the course of his stay in Turkey.
During the 2018/2019 season, Siopis made 27 appearances for Aris across all competitions, scoring one goal and dishing out one assist in the Super League. In the past, the 25-year-old has also played for Olympiacos, Panionios and Platanias.
Georgios Tzavellas and Tasos Bakasetas are also Alanyaspor players.
Initially, it appeared that winger Giannis Fetfatzidis would be allowed to leave Aris after playing in Thessaloniki for the second half of the 2018/2019 season, but it has now been confirmed that he will stay.
This afternoon, Aris published a post on their social media platforms which revealed that Fetfatzidis will continue playing with the club until the summer of 2021:
In January, Fetfatzidis transferred to Aris after a dismal short spell at Olympiacos, subsequently contributing with one goal and one assist in 10 matches.
VALERIANOS JOINS PAFOS FC
Left-back Giorgos Valerianos, who recently broke into the Greek national team, has signed a three-year contract with Pafos FC of the Cypriot First Division after his Aris deal expired.
Pafos FC confirmed the news with this statement:
“Giorgos Valerianos, who is a member of the Greek national team and had a great season with Aris Thessaloniki in the Super League, becomes our player!
We welcome Giorgos to the Pafos FC family and wish him good luck.”
Valerianos, 27, made his debut for the senior Greek national team on May 30. The defender spent two years at Aris after arriving from Apollon Smyrnis in July 2017.
