Apollon Larissa dispatched Trikala 3:1 at home and are back within one point of second placed Platanias with three matches remaining. The hosts notched three goals in the opening 24 minutes through Skoupras (10), Goudroubis (16), and Chatzis (24) too gain a decisive lead early on. Triantafyllopoulos gave hope to Trikala with his spot-kick goal four minutes after the restart, but the visitors were unable to threaten in the remainder of the second half. Before the final whistle, Souliotis was sent off for Apollon Larissa in second half stoppage with a second yellow card offense.
Apollon Larissa and Platanias are the two main contenders for second place in the Football League with three matches remaining. The two sides will meet in Larissa on matchday 29 in what will likely decide who finishes second in the league. Trikala, on the other hand, sit in 12th with 29 points and will look to avoid a two-division drop (13th placed finish) in the final matches remaining. Irodotos are trailing Trikala by just one point in 13th.
Apollon Pontou kept their hopes alive for second place after defeating AE Karaiskakis 2:1 in Thessaloniki. Sountoura (26) and Kyvelidis (43) put the hosts 2:0 in front heading into the break and Vukmirovic pulled one back for the visitors in the 57th minute. However, AE Karaiskakis played with 10-men from the 76th minute and (Chousos came off due to injury and the visitors had no substitutions remaining) could not come up with an equalizer. The result moves Apollon Pontou up to fourth with 46 points, three points behind Platanias, while AE Karaiskakis are in 10th with 38 points, two points ahead of 11th placed Iraklis. A tenth place finish assures a position in next year’s Super League 2 (second tier), while an 11th and 12th placed finish means demotion to the new third tier in Greek football, the Footballl League.
