Atromitos and Panaitolikos share spoils in four-goal thriller
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 16
|Atromitos||2 - 2||Panetolikos|
Atromitos fading title dreams suffered another dent on Saturday as the Peristeri club were held to a 2-2 home draw by in-form Panaitolikos in an enthralling encounter, while Panionios scored a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with OFI Crete in Heraklion.
After a goalless first half in Peristeri, the lead changed hands twice before a late equaliser from Atromitos’ Armin Mujakic seven minutes from time secured a point for Damir Canadi’s Atromitos team.
Before that, Atromitos had earlier taken the lead in the 50th minute through Clarck N’Sikulu, but Nicolas Mana levelled matters for the visitors after 69 minutes.
Then, much to the surprise of the home fans, Traianos Dellas’ Panaitolikos team took the lead courtesy of another Mana strike in the 77th minute, and it seemed a shock would be on the cards before Mujakic’s late intervention.
The outcome for Atromitos is that they remain in third place, but lose ground in their attempts to catch leaders PAOK and second-placed Olympiacos who are the two firm favorites for the title.
