Baghdatis to retire from tennis
Former top 10 player Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus has announced that Wimbledon 2019 will be the final tournament of his storied career.
Once ranked as high as number eight in the world, Baghdatis is now ranked 138 and was granted a wildcard into the main draw of Wimbledon, which begins on July 1. Baghdatis holds a 21-13 record at Wimbledon, and reached the semifinals there in 2006, as well as the quarterfinals in 2007. His best career result at a major was reaching the final of the 2006 Australian Open.
Over his career, Baghdatis won four ATP singles titles and reached another ten finals. The 34-year-old will be most remembered for being a fan favorite all over the world, and his fans will be eagerly watching to see if he can make one last deep run at the All England Club over the next fortnight.
