The Athenian organisation released this following statement:

“Panathinaikos OPAP BC announces the signing of a two-year contract with Ben Bentil.”

Bentil commented on the transfer: “It’s a big honour for me to join such an historic and successful club like Panathinaikos. This is a large step forward in my career. Panathinaikos have the best fans in Europe, and I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere at the packed OAKA. I promise to give my all for this club. It’s also very important that Argyris Pedoulakis is the head coach here, I learned a lot from him and improved as a player.”

Bentil, 24, spent the 2018/2019 season with Peristeri BC. He averaged 12.5 points and 6.7 rebounds in the Basket League as Peristeri eventually lost to Panathinaikos in the semi-finals of the playoffs.

This will be the first time in his career when Bentil plays in the EuroLeague. In the past, Bentil has played in the NBA for the Dallas Mavericks, while also competing in China, France and Spain. Bentil was picked 51st in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics.
