Media reports had previously stated that it was practically certain that Berg would move to Olympiacos. Available on a free transfer after he left Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates, Berg was known for wanting a move back to Europe, and Olympiacos had singled him out as an ideal signing. However, if reports from Piraeus are to be believed, the deal has fallen through after Olympiacos didn’t receive the response from Berg which they wanted.

The same report also revealed that Olympiacos have closed the door on Berg, even if the Swedish international forward does later try to reach a compromise with the Erythrolefki.

Between 2013 and 2017, Berg starred for Panathinaikos in the Super League, before transferring to Al Ain. It’s predicted that Berg, 32, will continue his career either in Turkey or Qatar.

As previously reported on AGONAsport, Olympiacos have been chasing the services of Panionios forward Fiorin Durmishaj since the turn of the year, and it appears the club will soon be available to unveil the signing of the Greek international.

On Wednesday, Durmishaj was reportedly spotted at the Olympiacos offices to complete the final formalites of his transfer from Panionios. Olympiacos will reveal the signing of the 22-year-old in the coming days.

During the 2018/2019 season, Durmishaj caught the eye with his impressive performances in Nea Smyrni, bagging 11 goals across 33 matches in all competitions for Panionios. Durmishaj has spent his entire senior playing career in Greece.

Transfermarkt rates his value at 900 thousand euros.

The same can be said for PAOK goalkeeper Marios Siampanis. The 19-year-old never received a chance with the PAOK senior team, and with his contract expiring this summer, the talented goalkeeper took the decision to leave the Dikefalos tou Vorra and pen a deal with Olympiacos. Siampanis, just like Durmishaj, has passed a medical in Piraeus.

Remember the strange case of Hugo Cuypers? Last summer, Cuypers was set to join AEK after the Athenians came to terms with Ergotelis, but the player subsequently refused to sign for the Kitrinomavri. This year, Olympiacos are close to signing the 22-year-old Belgian forward, and Cuypers will sanction this transfer.

Cuypers and Olympiacos have struck an agreement which will see the Belgian transfer to the Thrylos after his Ergotelis contract expires this summer. It’s worth noting that Cuypers, still on the books of Ergotelis, didn’t play in a single match in the 2018/2019 season.

In other news, West Ham United were keen to sign star Olympiacos midfielder Kostas Fortounis, but after having a bid of 16 million rejected, the English side have now switched their attentions to Villarreal’s Pablo Fornals. West Ham are not willing to increase their offer for Fortounis again.
