Castro leaves struggling Panetolikos
Portuguese coach Luis Castro has left Panetolikos after a terrible start to the 2019/2020 Super League campaign.
In the summer, Castro was employed by Panetolikos to replace the outgoing Traianos Dellas as the head coach of the first team, but the 39-year-old has already left the Agrinio outfit after a dreadful start to the season.
With six games in the books, Panetolikos only have one point on the board so far after conceding five defeats to PAOK, Xanthi, OFI, AEK and Atromitos. Panetolikos gained their first Super League point of the season last week in a 0-0 draw at Lamia.
Panetolikos confirmed Castro’s departure with this following statement:
“Following a meeting between the management and the coaches, the two parties took the decision to cease their partnership. We thank Luis Castro and his assistants for their efforts, wishing them every success in the future.”
Panetolikos currently occupy 13th place of the Super League standings. A successor to Castro is yet to be named.
