For yet another offseason, there appears to be a flirt between English giants, Chelsea, and Greek international, Kostas Manolas. According to Sport Italia, the Blues are willing to pay Roma the buy-out clause in Kostas Manolas’ contract to acquire the defender.
The clause is set at 38 million Euros and Chelsea have informed Roma of their intentions to pay that amount to bring Manolas to London. Roma are open to selling Manolas as they look to meet their economic fair play standards for the new season.
Chelsea will now look to reach a deal with Manolas and if a deal is reached, the Greek international could very well make a move to the English Premier League. On Saturday, “Corriere dello Sport” and Sky Italia reported that Chelsea are offering Manolas 5 million Euros a year, a hefty pay raise from Manolas’ current 3.5 million per year in the Italian capital. The reported amount is similar to what Arsenal are offering Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who will join the Gunners this off-season.
