Crucial Super League board meeting scheduled for Wednesday
With the 2018/2019 Super League season due to begin on August 25, a vital meeting will take place on Wednesday, in which the board is set to discuss issues concerning broadcasting contracts and the championship’s reconstruction.

Recently, it was reported on AGONAsport that Deputy Greek Minister of Culture and Sport George Vassiliadis opposed the idea unanimously suggested by the Super League Board of Directors to have 14 teams competing in the 2019/2020 season, however he’s had a change of heart. According to the media, light has finally appeared at the end of the tunnel, with Vassiliadis ready to accept having 14 clubs participate in the 2019/2020 Super League. 12 teams will play in the Super League 2 and Football League.
It’s now practically certain that 16 Super League clubs will compete in the upcoming 2018/2019 campaign.
On Wednesday, the Super League board will hold a crucial meeting, where matters connected with the broadcasting issue will be discussed. At the moment, several Super League clubs are still without television deals for 2018/2019, and if the mess is not resolved, the start of the season will be delayed. As to create a Plan B, Nova and ERT will speak to the league about the possibility of cooperating in order to prevent the championship from being disrupted.
Alongside the league reconstructing and broadcasting topics, new championship members will be registered, 2018/2019 competitions will be approved and e-ticketing will be mentioned at the Super League board meeting. More clarity for next season is then expected.
