APOEL continued their shaky start to the season as they played to a 1-1 draw away to Ethnikos Achnas. Surprisingly, the hosts were the better side in the first half and with Kyprianou’s goal, took a 1-0 into halftime. APOEL managed to pull level midway through the second half with Pote and looked on for a winner, however Ethnikos sat back in defence to earn an impressive draw against the defending champions. On the other hand, APOEL will be disappointed as they failed to pick up all three points against the last placed team in the standings.

There was late drama in the derby between Omonia and Anorthosis in Nicosia as a late goal saw the Famagusta side leave the GSP stadium with a 1-1 draw. After a dull first half, Omonoia looked the better side in the second half and opened the scoring with Rafa Lopes in the 56th minute. The hosts continued to control the game after taking the lead and wasted many chances to double their lead, including an effort from Derbyshire which was stopped by the post. Anorthosis pressed on late in the game and desperately looked for an equaliser, which would come in the final moments of the game. A tragic mistake by Omonoia’s goalkeeper, Veldhuizen, pave the way for Anorthosis’ Douglao to score in second half stoppage time, salvaging an important point for the visitors.

AEK defeated Alki 0-1 to move top of the table, taking advantage of Anorthosis’ draw away to Omonoia. The Larnakeis were the better side in the 90 minutes of play and an in-form Taulemesse scored the only goal of the game in the 66th minutes. The AEK striker has scored 10 goals this season, leading the way in the Cypriot First Division.
A great first half from Apollon saw them dispense Doxa 4-2 at home. Four first half goals from Martinez, Maglica (penalty), Schembri, and João Pedro (penalty) gave the hosts a comfortable 4-0 lead at the break. Doxa managed to pull back two consolation goals midway through the second half with Zatl (59) and Kenidy (68), but could not spur up a historic- comeback. Apollon sit seven points adrift the leaders AEK, but have three games in hand.

Pafos and Aris shared the spoils in a goalless draw as Pafos continue to sit 3rd in the standings while Aris remain back in 13th place.

In a game where both teams desperately needed all three points, Olympiacos Nicosia and Nea Salamina played to a 1-1 draw. After a goalless 79 minutes, the Nicosia side found the back of the net with Kapartis, which looked to be the winner for the hosts. However, Salamina quickly answered four minutes later with Karo as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

AEL Limassol escaped with a narrow 0-1 win against Ermis in Larnaka. The winner came late in the game as Arruabarrena’s 87th minute header gave 4th placed AEL the three points.
