Euro 2004 Team Back in Action For Philanthropic Cause
A historical match took place on Wednesday between Panachaiki and the Dream Team of Euro 2004 for a philanthropic cause (there were also a few players not on the Euro 2004 roster).
Kostas Katsouranis, a former player of both Panachaiki and the National Team, took the initiative to organize the friendly seeing that Katsouranis is currently the technical director at Panachaiki, which was also his first club as a player.
As expected, people came out in support as the match was a sold out. The money gathered will be given to local charity organizations and foundations.
As for the gameplay, Panachaiki scored the opening goal with Bitsakos, before Basinas equalized from the penalty spot (Pantelis Kafes won the penalty). The team from Patra took a 3-1 lead with goals from Spanos and Mastrantonakis and the final 3-2 score was shaped with Georgiadis’ goal. The match’s referee was veteran Tasos Kakos.

On the bench of the Greek Team were also Katergiannakis, Kapsis, Dellas, Georgatos, Karagounis, Nikolaidis, Papadopoulos, Vryzas, Lakis, and Georgiadis.
