The renowned football magazine, Four Four Two, release an annual list of the top-50 managers of the year in the footballing world. In 2018, Four Four Two included PAOK’s new manager Abel Ferreira as number 44 on the list for an impressive run with his now former team Braga in Portugal.

Promoted from Braga's reserves to the first team in April 2017, the former Sporting full-back has fast established himself as one of the most promising young coaches in Europe.
Praised for his tactical versatility, devotion to high tempo and good eye for game-changing substitutions, he finished the 2017/18 season in superb fashion and has started the new term even better, taking a joint-lead with Benfica ahead of Porto and Sporting with seven matches played.
Since Ferreira ended his playing career in 2011, he has coached in the youth systems of Sporting Lisbon and Braga, becoming the head coach of the latter’s first team in 2017. Overall, the Portuguese manager oversaw 102 matches with SC Braga, gaining a points-per-game average of 1.96.
In 2018 and 2019, he steered Braga to consecutive fourth place finishes in the Poruguese Primeira Liga, behind the league’s big-three Porto, Braga, and Sporting. This season, he will look to lead PAOK to the UEFA Champions League group stages for the first time in club history and repeat the Thessalonikis’ 2019 Super League triumph.
