Flevarakis new PAOK BC boss
Kostas Flevarakis has been confirmed as the new head coach of PAOK BC.
On Monday evening, PAOK released this following statement:
“PAOK BC announces the agreement with Kostas Flevarakis, who returns to PAOK as head coach at a difficult time for the club.”
Flevarakis, 50, began his coaching career in the PAOK ranks in 1988. In 1999, Flevarakis steered PAOK to an historic Greek Cup triumph, and he later coached the Dikefalos tou Vorra in a second spell from 2007 to 2008.
He has also coached the likes of AEK, the Swedish national team, Rethymno, Astana and Kolossos Rodou.
“This is a great responsibility for me to return here,” stated Flevarakis when speaking to the PAOK official website. “I understand that the club is going through hard times, but we have to win this battle. We must deal with this situation in the best way possible. PAOK is a huge club with wonderful history. I thank the management for showing faith in me.”
PAOK are due to compete in the 2019/2020 Basketball Champions League alongside the Basket League and Greek Cup. The organisation has encountered major financial problems in the past few months.
