22-year old Podence, who came through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon in his native Portugal, recently abolished his contract with the capital outfit after a scandal with the club’s fans. Available as a free-agent, Podence has engaged in negotiations with Olympiacos, travelling to Piraeus to inspect the training facilities and discuss a possible deal.

According to reports in Greece, Podence will pen either a three or five-year contract with Olympiacos, a transfer which is due to be completed early next week. When meeting with Thrylos representatives, the Portuguese midfielder didn’t sign any paperwork, but he was impressed with what he saw.

There are several legal issues with previous club Sporting which need to be sorted out, but assuming everything goes to plan, Podence will become an Olympiacos player. During the 2017/2018 campaign, he only participated in 12 Portuguese Liga NOS matches because of injury problems, registering four assists.

Following Sporting’s presidential change, it was thought that Podence had experienced a change of heart and was going to stay in Lisbon, however that has proven to be false. Podence wants a wage of 1.2 million per year, in turn making him the highest paid player on the Olympiacos roster.

Alongside Podence, Olympiacos are chasing central midfielder Willian Arao, currently on the books of Flamengo in Brazil. However, while Arao would like to play for Olympiacos, he is under contract with Flamengo until 2019 and no agreement has yet been struck between the two clubs.

Born in Sao Paulo, Arao has never played outside of Brazil, previously on the books of Sao Paulo FC, Corinthians, Portuguesa, Chapecoense and Botafogo. The 25-year old represented the senior Brazilian national team on one occasion in January 2017.

Sanjin Prcic, the 24-year old Bosnian midfielder out of contract at Rennes, visited the Renti training centre and is keen on a move to the Thrylos. A promising talent, Prcic does demand a yearly wage of 800,000 euros, however Olympiacos are in contact with the player concerning a transfer.

As previously reported on AGONAsport, Prcic initially turned down Olympiacos, but having not received any other decent offers, he is now eager to play his football in Piraeus.
