Four countries to host EuroBasket 2021
The Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, and Italy will host EuroBasket 2021.
On Monday, FIBA announced the four host nations for EuroBasket 2021. The Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, and Italy will host Europe’s main basketball event in two-years time.
The 2021 layout will be similar to that of 2015 and 2017 with four nations hosting the group stages while all knockout matches will take place in one country. Prague, Cologne, Tbilisi, and Milan will host matches in the group stages while the German capital, Berlin, will host all games in the knockout stages (last 16 and on).
Out of the four nations, Georgia will be hosting the tournament for the first time. Estonia, Hungary, and Slovenia were also in contention to be a co-host for EuroBasket 2021, but ultimately fell out of favor by FIBA.
At EuroBasket 2017, Greece claimed eighth place after falling to Russia in the quarter-finals.
In the women’s edition of the European championships, Spain and France will co-host the EuroBasket 2021 Women.
