Garcia set to stay in charge of Olympiacos
Despite recent reports suggesting that large changes are on the way at Olympiacos, it seems like head coach Oscar Garcia will stay.

The 44-year old Spaniard only joined Olympiacos in January, but since his arrival, the Thrylos have fallen to a distant third in the Super League and were recently knocked out of the Greek Cup. Nevertheless, according to Greek newspaper SportDay, Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis fully trusts Garcia, not willing to sack the coach. Marinakis can see where Garcia wants to take the team, meaning that it’s likely he will give him a chance to prove himself in Greece.
As previously reported on AGONAsport, Marinakis and the board are preparing a summer clear-out in Piraeus. Still, while Alberto Botia, Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe, Uros Djurdjevic, Felipe Pardo, Omar Elabdellaoui, Seba and Andre Martins are predicted to leave, it’s expected that a number of others will actually stay with Olympiacos.
On Wednesday, SportFM revealed information that Silvio Proto, Bjorn Engels, Pape Abou Cisse, Leonardo Koutris, Ehsan Hajsafi, Romao, Panagiotis Tachtsidis and Thanasis Androutsos are practically guaranteed of a place on the Olympiacos roster for the 2018/2019 campaign.
However, there are questions marks surrounding Ivica Ivusic, Dimitris Nikolaou, Guillaume Gillet, Marko Marin, Konstantinos Fortounis, Kevin Mirallas and Karim Ansarifard. With various factors coming into play, it’s not yet certain whether these figures have a future with the reigning Greek champions.
