AEK defeated a good Rethymno side while PAOK continued to show signs of improvement in their victory over Lavrio for the 5th Round of the Greek A1 Basket League. Prometheus was victorious in the city derby against Apollon Patras while Kolossos Rodou defeated Koroivos in the day’s most entertaining match. 

AEK remained undefeated in the Greek A1 Basket League by defeating Rethymno 80-62 at the OAKA Nick Galis Stadium. Although the Kitrinomavri finished the match with an 18-point advantage it was not an easy night for the hosts. Rethymno shocked AEK in the early minutes as the Cretan side began the game with a 19-2 run. After slowing chipping away at Rethymno’s early lead, AEK brought things level in the 3rd quarter with an 11-0 run (47-47). In the fourth quarter, AEK held Rethymno to 0 points for 7 minutes as the Kitrinomavri increased their lead and went on to win 80-62.

PAOK defeated Lavrio 63-73 and increased their win streak to 4 games in the Greek A1 Basket League. The Dikefalos tou Vorra continued to show improvement which has led to promising results. In today’s game away to Lavrio, the hosts kept the match close up until the fourth quarter where PAOK pulled ahead and came away with the victory. Clanton put on a great performance for PAOK scoring 17-points and picking up 15 rebounds. Highlights can be found here...

Prometheus was victorious against Apollon Patras 53-67 in the derby between city rivals. The game remained close up until the halfway point of the third quarter, before Prometheus increased their lead to double digits, leaving no hope to Apollon Patras for a comeback. The new boys made a statement to their neighbors of who “controls” the city as they moved to 2-3 for the season. Apollon Patras remains with only 1 win from 5 games and the relegation cloud is slowly surrounding the team.  Highlights can be found here...

In the most entertaining game of the day, Kolossos Rodou defeated Koroivos 90-88. The two teams offered great entertainment in a nerve wracking match that ended with a win for Kolossos, who moved up to 2-3 for the season. Reddic was the leading scorer for Kolossos with 19-points and Hall, who came through at the end for his side, added 17-points. Koroivos was on fire from behind the arch (15/33) with Brown, Miloutinovic, and Ostroum each scoring 18-points for the club from Amaliada. Highlights can be found here...
