The goals came pouring in on a meaningless final day of the 2016/17 Greek SuperLeague season. Meaningless because the race for the title, playoffs, and relegation had already been decided in the last round. Matchday 30 was still a delightful one however for spectators as 30 goals were scored across the eight matches.

League champions for the seventh consecutive season, Olympiacos finished their campaign with a 2-0 win away to Panetolikos. Takis Lemonis’ side were paced by goals from Chori Dominguez and Tarik Elyounoussi. The defeat saw Panetolikos finish in 11th place.

PAOK managed the score of the day as they defeated Kerkyra 5-1. PAOK received goals from five different players as they finished the season in 2nd. A late season slump still didn’t keep Kerkyra from 10th in the table.

Marcus Berg scored again as the Swedish striker led Panathinaikos to a 2-0 win over Larisa. Berg’s 22nd strike of the season saw him finish as the SuperLeague’s top scorer. Sebastian Leto opened the scoring for Marinos Ouzounidis and company for  the playoff-bound Prasini. Larisa finish off a very disappointing campaign which saw them end just two points above the relegation places.

A late Patito Rodriguez goal saw AEK come away with a 1-1 draw at PAS Giannina. Andi Lila’s 38th minute goal had given PAS the lead, but Rodriguez managed an equalizer ten minutes from the end. AEK are into the playoffs with their 4th place finish, while PAS end the campaign in 9th position.

It was a bittersweet final game for Levadiakos as they defeated Panionios away 3-1. Levadiakos’ fate was already determined well before the final day as they have been relegated to the Football League. Panionios are also through to the playoffs despite this loss and indifferent form down the stretch. Kevin Tapoko gave the home side the lead inside three minutes, but Loosemy Karaboue (7’), Jackson Mendy (25’), and Petros Giakoumakis (87’) gave the visitors the comeback win.

Xanthi ended the season on a high with a 3-0 victory relegated Veria. Younes Hamza bagged a brace bringing his season tally to 19, good enough for second in the scorers’ charts. Karim Soltani was also on target for Razvan Lucescu’s men. Xanthi miss out on the playoffs, but finish the season with a respectable 6th place position. Veria meanwhile complete their season by finishing in last place.

A Nicolas Diguiny brace helped Atromitos see off Platanias 4-1. At Peristeri, the two teams were locked in a close first half, but Diguiny’s goal on 42 minutes proved to be the match-winner before Ricardo Sa Pinto’s men added two more in the final 15 minutes. Despite the final day defeat, Platanias enjoyed a fine season which ends with Giorgos Paraschos’ team finishing in 7th. Atromitos end their season in the middle of the pack in 8th place.

An entertaining match in Tripoli saw Iraklis fight back to earn a 2-2 draw against Asteras Tripolis. Christos Donis scored for the fourth match in a row and managed Iraklis’ equalizer 12 minutes from time. Nikos Ziabaris had given Iraklis the lead before Asteras scored through Giorgos Kiriakopoulos and Cedric Gondo to turn the match on its head. The draws sees Iraklis just pip Asteras to 12th in the table with the Tripoli side finishing 13th, a point behind.
