Greece climb two places in FIFA Rankings
Greece climbed two places to 43rd in the FIFA Rankings for the month of April.
Greece got off to a good start in the UEFA EURO 2020 European qualifiers tallying four points from their opening two fixtures away to Liechtenstein (0:2 win) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (2:2 draw). The Ethniki sit tied for second place in Group J along with Bosnia, are two points behind leaders Italy, and ahead of Finland (3 points), Armenia (0 points), and Liechtenstein (0 points).
The two positive results saw the national team move up two places into 43rd in the FIFA World Rankings for the month of April. As for Greece’s Group J opponents, Italy are 17th, Bosnia are 35th, Finland are 60th, Armenia are 106th, and lowly Liechtenstein are 183rd.
Cyprus dropped two placed to 89th after picking up one win (San Marino, 5:0) and one loss (Belgium, 0:2) in their opening EURO 2020 qualifiers.
Belgium lead the pack while France, Brazil, England, Croatia, Uruguay, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain, and Denmark round out the top-10.
Greece are back in EURO 2020 qualifying action on June 8th when they host Italy.
