Greece to host Switzerland at the OAKA
Following the recent events during the PAOK - AEK Super League match in Thessaloniki, it’s been confirmed that the Greek national team will host Switzerland at the OAKA instead of the Toumba Stadium. The friendly match between the two nations is scheduled to take place on March 23 at 20:00 local time.

Originally, the friendly game against the Swiss was planned to be staged at the atmospheric Toumba Stadium, but Sunday’s debacle involving PAOK president Ivan Savvidis made it impossible to play the match in Thessaloniki. On Thursday, the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) confirmed that Greece will play Switzerland at the Olympic Stadium in Athens as a replacement. It will be the Ethniki Omada’s first game at the OAKA since 2009, with the team using the Karaiskakis Stadium in the past few years. However, after failing to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the EPO revealed that the national team won’t play in Piraeus anymore.
Greece’s upcoming friendly matches against Switzerland (March 23, Athens) and Egypt (March 27, Zurich) will both be broadcasted by Epsilon. Cosmote TV hold the rights to broadcast the national team’s Nations League and Euro 2020 qualifying games, but it’s planned that they will show matches on television alongside the Epsilon channel.
