Coming into this game, Greece U17 knew that a victory could propel the team into first place and guarantee a European championship berth, but Norway proved the more clinical in front of goal. The Norwegians win the group with seven points, Germany are in second place with four, while Greece and Scotland finish in joint third position locked on three points each. All group winners qualify for the final tournament, with the seven best runners up joining them.
After a goalless first half in Patras, the match came to life in the second. 16-year old Kornelius Hansen opened the scoring for Norway, before the same player doubled his tally moments later. Kristoffer Askildsen made the game safe in the final moments with a third Norwegian goal, as Greece’s Sotirios-Polykarpos Alexandropoulos received a second yellow card in stoppage time.
Greece U17 complete the elite qualifying campaign with only one goal scored and six conceded in three matches.
