In the elite qualifying round, there are no easy or difficult draws, because every team that participates is good. We must focus on and achieve our goal in this tournament, taking it game by game, and attempt to finish first in the group. We will give it our best.”

The Ethniki Neon finished second in the first qualifying round jumping ahead of Russia on the final matchday in a 2:1 come from behind victory in a must win match. Romania topped the group with a perfect three wins from three matches.
