As we reported earlier this week, five players currently plying their trade in Greece are with their teams in Russia.

We have gone a step further by tracking down all of the players at this World Cup who have played in Greece previously, the two coaches who have managed in Greece, and the one player who comes from a Greek background.

Egypt and Sweden top the list with four representatives each. Egypt’s are split between coaches and players while Sweden comes out on top with the most players with Greek links (4). The list also includes one player who captains his national side in the form of Masoud Shojaei of Iran. In total, nine countries are featured where at least one player or coach can point to a link to Greek football.
