Karelis scores again, but misses penalty
Greek forward Nikolaos Karelis scored his third of the season for current club Genk, helping his team claim an entertaining 2:2 draw against Club Brugge in the Jupiler League.
The 25-year old, who has endured a season plagued by injury, found the net in the second consecutive Jupiler League match. With the score at 0:0 after 11 minutes, Karelis escaped the attentions of the Brugge defence, calmly slotting beyond opposing goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer into the far left corner. However, there was a sting in the tail, as Karelis failed to convert a penalty in the second half. Four minutes later, hosts Brugge scored their second goal to go 2:1 up. Genk did eventually equalise to make it a 2:2 draw, but Karelis was taken off the pitch after 73 minutes.
At this moment in time, Genk occupy sixth place in the Jupiler League with 38 points, 22 behind leaders Club Brugge.
