Efthymis Koulouris will not partake in Greece’s final UEFA Nations League match at home to Estonia as the Atromitos star will join the U21 side ahead of their all-important second leg EURO 2019 qualifying playoff fixture away to Austria. Antonis Nikopolidis, Greece’s U21 coach, came in contact with Angelos Anastasiadis and the two men decided that it would be best if Koulouris joined the U21 side ahead of Tuesday’s match.

As a result, Koulouris will join the Ethniki Elpidon’s training session on Sunday and will fly with the team on Monday to Austria. If Koulouris had made an appearance with the Men’s team on Sunday, he would be ineligible to play in Tuesday's match per UEFA’s rules.

Koulouris was the captain and a key figure for the U21 side during their qualifying campaign, lead Greece in scoring with five goals in 10 group matches. With Greece suffering a 0:1 defeat at the Toumba stadium in Friday’s first leg against Austria, Koulouris will provide a vital boost to the Greek attack ahead of Tuesday’s second leg.

For Greece to qualify for the EURO 2019 finals, the Ethniki Elpidon will need to defeat Austria by two goals or more or win by one goal if Greece net two or more goals on Tuesday (1:2, 2:3 etc). A 0:1 Greek win will send the match into extra time while a draw or Austria win will see Greece miss out on yet another U21 European finals tournament.
