Lazaros’ goal against Dudelange among best in Europa League
Lazaros Christodoulopoulos’ fantastic goal against Dudelange in the UEFA Europa League was regarded as one of the best goals in the group stages by UEFA.
Lazaros Christodoulopoulos has attached his name to some great goals in his career including memorable finishes against Olympiacos (Super League) and Larissa (Cup) with AEK in last year’s campaign. After making a controversial move from AEK to Olympiacos this summer, the 32-year old got off to a great start in the 2018/19 season but since then, has cooled off.
However, the Greek international made his mark in Olympiacos’ UEFA Europa League matchday four fixture at home to Dudelange. Lazaros turned in a spectacular scissors kick goal from a Kostas Fortounis cross to give Olympiacos a 3:0 lead midway through the first half. On Tuesday, UEFA released the top ten goals of the UEFA Europa League group stages and Lazaros’ brilliant finish against Luxembourg’s champions was included on the list.
Olympiacos not only went on to defeat Dudelange 5:1, but also finished in second place in the group after a 3:1 triumph over AC Milan on matchday six.
