Lefkada to host Greece All Stars and Monaco Legends
Lefkada will host the Greece All Stars’ clash with the Monaco Legends on the 3rd of June.
Lefkada has been chosen as the location for the Greece All Stars’ match against the Monaco Legends. The irony of this fixture is that the Greece side features the core of the famous Euro 2004 triumph, and this Monaco team will include members from their memorable run in the UEFA Champions League in the same year, where they reached the final.
The Greece All Stars team will feature the likes of Giorgos Karagounis, Traianos Dellas, Kostas Katsouranis, Nikos Dabizas, Vasilis Lakis, and Dimitris Papadopoulos, all of whom were part of the squad in Euro 2004 for Greece. Others who are included are Theofanis Gekas, Georgios Georgatos, Nikos Lymberopoulos, Dimitris Salpingidis, Nikos Spyropoulos, Sotiris Kyrgiakos, Michalis Sifakis, Loukas Vyntra, Stefanos Kotsolis, Ieroklis Stoltidis and Vasilis Borbokis. Takis Lemonis and Giorgos Donis will coach the side.
The Monaco Legends will have the likes of Flavio Roma, Gael Givet, Sebastien Squillaci, Ludovic Giuly, Jerome Rothen, Lucas Bernardi, Hassan El Fakiri, Edouard Cisse, and of course Akis Zikos - the Greek who played in the 2004 final for the French club in Germany. However, as fate would have it, he was infamously snubbed by Greece coach Otto Rehhagel for Euro 2004.
The match will take place on Monday the 3rd of June in Lefkada at 6:30pm at the Municipal Stadium of Lefkada. It will also be broadcast on COSMOTE TV in Greece.
