After a poor string of results in the Greek Superleague, AEK went on a rampage in Thursday’s Greek Cup fixture away to Apollon Larissas. The Kitrinomavri put seven goals past the newly promoted Football League side and celebrated a place in the next round of the competition.

Six players added their names to the score sheet including, Tzanetopoulos (19), Ajdarevic (36), Bakasetas (40), Araujo (51), Traustansson (71), and Lazaros Christodoulopoulos who scored twice in the first half (22, 43). Tzanetopoulos scored his first goal in 1022 days while Araujo found the goal he was looking for to boost his confidence after his slow start to the season.

The MVP of the match was Tasos Bakasetas who not only found the back of the net, but also provided two assists. Christodoulopoulos’ great form continued as he was the only AEK player to score two goals in the game.

The win sends AEK into the knockout stages of the Cup while Apollon Larisa remain on three points from two matches. The Thessaly club will fight with Lamia for second spot in the group when they two teams meet up in Larissa on the final matchday of group play.
