Manolas becomes second most expensive transfer in Napoli’s history
Kostas Manolas’ move to Napoli is the second most expensive transfer in Napoli’s history.
On Sunday, Kostas Manolas put pen to paper on a new deal with Napoli, making his move to southern Italy official after a five-year stay with Roma. The Naples based side activated Manolas’ 34 million euro buy-out clause in his contract with Roma to bring the Greek international Gli Azzurri.
Manolas transfer is the second most expensive in Napoli’s history only behind Gonzalo Higuaín, who transferred from Real Madrid in 2014 for 39 million euros. Manolas transfer cost Napoli more than Arkadiusz Milik (32 million from Ajax), Fabián Ruiz Peña (30 million from Real Betis), Simone Verdi (24.5 million from Bologna).
The 34 million euros is also the highest amount ever paid for a Greek footballer.
