Tunisian international Meriah, capable of playing either at the back or as a defensive midfielder, represented his country at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and is currently on the books of CS Sfaxien in Tunisia. According to various reports, Sfaxien have accepted an Olympiacos bid of 1.8 million euros, with Meriah agreeing to sign a three-year contract with the Thrylos. The 25-year old is travelling to Greece ahead of completing the transfer.

So far, Meriah has spent the entirety of his career in his native Tunisia, playing for AS Ariana, ES Metlaoui and CS Sfaxien. Meriah played every minute of Tunisia’s World Cup campaign in Russia as the team finished in third place of Group G behind England and Belgium.

In other news, the Piraeus club are eager to pinch central midfielder Willian Arao from Flamengo, but the Brazilians aren’t willing to let him go easily. Initially, Olympiacos offered 2.3 million for Arao, however Flamengo have now stated that they will only consider bids exceeding four million. For his part, Arao likes the idea of joining Olympiacos and would agree to the move if he receives the opportunity. PAOK have also expressed interest in Arao.

Tall, imposing Egyptian forward Ahmed Hassan is edging closer to leaving Braga in favour of Olympiacos. Interestingly, Hassan’s agent is the well-known Jorge Mendes, who has solid relations with the Erythrolefkoi.

Hassan has been a Braga player since 2015, moving to the club after catching the eye with fellow Portuguese team Rio Ave. During the 2017/2018 season, 25-year old Hassan netted five goals in 20 Liga NOS appearances, often given a slot in the Braga starting line-up. Under contract at Braga for a further two years, Hassan’s value is rated at two million by Transfermarkt.
