Kostas Missas announced the 16-players that will make up Greece’s pre-selection roster for the upcoming Eurobasket tournament. There were a few surprises in his call-ups with the absence of Kostas Koufos, which to a degree was expected, being the biggest let down from the roster. Kostas Koufos, who plays in the NBA for the Sacramento Kings, will miss out due to a hand injury according to Missas.

Greece’s big stars will be present at the Eurobasket including Giannis Antetokounmpo,. Nick Calathes, Ioannis Bourousis, Kostas Papanikolaou, Georgios Printezis, Vaggelis Mantzaris, and Kostas Sloukas. Nikos Pappas returns to the national team after a five-year absence during the reign of former coach Fotis Katsikaris. Tyler Dorsey was also called up despite recently signing a new contract in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks

Some new faces were also called up including Georgios Papagiannis of the Sacramento Kings. Along with Papagiannis, Zach Auguste and Kostas Mitoglou (the youngest on the list) enjoyed their first call-up to the Men’s team.

The team will meet on July 24-25 to undergo the necessary medical tests before departing on July 26, until August 1, for Karpenisi for the first stage of training. A reminder that Greece’s first game in the Eurobasket tournament will take place at the end of August.
