Mitroglou registers first goal for Galatasaray
Greek international striker Konstantinos Mitroglou struck his maiden goal for Galatasaray, scoring a late winner in a dramatic 1:0 triumph over Akhisarspor in the Super Lig.
In the fourth minute of stoppage time in the second half, Mitroglou collected the ball after Akhisarspor goalkeeper Milan Lukac had committed a poor mistake outside of the penalty area, gently lifting his ensuing shot into the gaping net. Akhisarspor didn’t have time to respond and Galatasaray secured an important 1:0 victory at the Turk Telekom Stadium.
Since joining Galatasaray on loan from Marseille in January, 30-year-old Mitroglou has competed in four matches across all competitions, with this being his first goal for the Turkish giants. Galatasaray occupy second place of the Super Lig, trailing leaders Istanbul Basaksehir by six points.
