OFFICIAL: Mitroglou signs on loan for Galatasaray
Galatasaray have completed the transfer of striker Konstantinos Mitroglou, signing the Greek on an 18-month loan from French club Marseille.
On Thursday morning, Mitroglou arrived in Istanbul, before he underwent his medical tests at Galatasaray’s medical centre:
Later, in the evening, Galatasaray unveiled the loan signing of Mitroglou from Marseille with this following statement on their official website:
“The loan transfer of footballer Konstantinos Mitroglou from Marseille has been agreed upon for a period of 1.5 years.
The footballer will receive a total of 1.5 million euros for the 2018/2019 season and 2.6 million for the 2019/2020 season.”
Mitroglou will wear the number 22 with the Turkish giants:
This season, Mitroglou has struggled in Ligue 1 with Marseille, reportedly falling out with head coach Rudi Garcia and failing to impress when given a chance on the pitch. In 13 league appearances, the 30-year-old managed to score three goals, and he will now attempt to get his career back on track with Galatasaray.
At the moment, Galatasaray sit in second place of the Turkish Super Lig, trailing leaders Istanbul Basaksehir by six points. Galatasaray will take on Benfica in the UEFA Europa League Last 32, but despite having already played for Marseille in the tournament, Mitroglou will be eligible to represent the Turkish giants in the competition due to new UEFA regulations.
