Oliveira reportedly close to AEK transfer, Verde link continues
According to reports, AEK are close to securing the services of Portuguese forward Nelson Oliveira, while the Kitrinomavri continue to chase winger Daniele Verde.
On Sunday morning, reports emerged from the Greek media suggesting that Oliveira has agreed to sign a three-year contract with AEK. At the moment, Oliveira is on the books of Norwich City in England, but the 27-year-old is not a part of the coaches’ plans for the 2019/2020 season and will leave the club. The transfer fee has not been stipulated.
Last year, Oliveira was frozen out of the Norwich team for the first half of the 2018/2019 season, subsequently joining Reading on loan in January. The injury-hit striker managed to score three goals in 10 English Championship appearances for Reading. Incidentally, Norwich City earned promotion to the Premier League.
Oliveira transferred to Norwich City from Benfica in 2016. After progressing through the Benfica youth system, Oliveira spent time on loan at Rio Ave, Pacos de Ferreira, Deportivo, Rennes, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest. Oliveira has scored 31 goals in a grand total of 103 Championship matches.
He has also registered two goals in 17 games for the senior Portuguese national team. Transfermarkt rates his value at 3.5 million euros.
With a verbal agreement reportedly in place, AEK will now try to get the deal done as soon as possible. Oliveira has long been singled out as the ideal replacement for the prolific Ezequiel Ponce.
AEK STILL CHASING VERDE
AEK still haven’t given up hope of signing Italian winger Daniele Verde from AS Roma.
Over the course of the summer, AEK have constantly been trying to sign Verde from Roma, but the player’s agent has been difficult to do business with. AEK have now ceased contact with Verde’s management after becoming increasingly exasperated with their behaviour.
However, AEK are still involved in negotiations with Roma, and the latest reports have stated that the two clubs have reached an agreement for the transfer of Verde. The deal can be sanctioned once the player issues his consent.
Verde, 23, plays on the right wing and is full of potential. During the 2018/2019 season, Verde was loaned to Real Valladolid in Spain, tallying six goals in 26 games across all competitions. Verde has also previously played on loan at Frosinone, Pescara, Avellino and Hellas Verona.
The transfer fee stands between one and 1.5 million. PAOK have also been linked with Verde.
