Olympiacos after three players
Olympiacos are looking to sign three key players by the end of the week before the second stage of pre-season training begins.
Olympiacos are returning back to Greece after the first stage of pre-season training ended in Seefeld, Austria and the administration will look to finalize three key player signings before the team departs for Belgium and the second stage of pre-season training. The club is in negotiations for three players including Mehdi Carcela, Emmanuel Emenike, and Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe.
Carcela looks to be close to a move to Piraeus having already agreed to a deal with Olympiacos. The Erythrolefki are in negotiations with Granada for the player’s permanent move or a possible loan deal. The Spanish side price the player at €2.5 million, which is also the buyout clause in his current contract.
After Bokani’s move to Olympiacos was halted by his medical test results, the club has turned to Fenerbahce’s Emmanuel Emenike to enhance their attacking line. Olympiacos are in negotiations with both the 30-year old Nigerian striker and the Turkish side to complete the deal. Emenike is asking for just under €2 million a year while Fenerbahce are asking for a similar amount for his transfer. Olympiacos are convinced that they can negotiate both amounts to a slightly lower price and the striker will sign with the Superleague champions.
Vellios was also rumored to a move to Olympiacos and his case is still very well open, however he plans on joining Nottingham Forest’s pre-season training, which begins in a couple of days.
Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe’s name has surround the club’s transfer gossip since Hasi took charge of Olympiacos. The midfielder is the Albanian manager’s number target to enhance the Erythrolefki’s midfield this season. The 28-year old, who was named the MVP of last season’s Ekstraklasa with Legia, wants to join Olympiacos and work with his former manager, Hasi. The Greek side is offering Legia €2 million, but the club has responded negatively. The player’s contract does end next season and this could very well play a factor in Legia’s final decision as the club will not receive anything if he leaves as a free agent next season.
Things are on standby for the stopper positions as Olympiacos will not pursue Valencia’s Aderlan Santos. Former Fiorentina captain Gonzalo Rodriguez is officially off the list as he will sign with San Lorenzo back home in Argentina.
Nante’s Guillaume Gillet was linked to a move to Olympiacos for the first time this summer, but his case seems a difficult one as he was a key player in Nantes’ roster last season. As for Defour, who plays at Burnley, his case seems well out of reach as the English club have a very high asking price for the Belgian international.
As for the club’s departures, both da Costa and Pardo are not in Hasi’s plans for the upcoming season and have been asked to look for a new club. Many other players will be cut before the team departs for the second stage of pre-season training and this list will be known in the coming days.
