Olympiacos have reinforced their roster by adding former Houston Rockets point guard Bobby Brown, the club announced late Thursday evening.
Olympiacos were keen to add a player who could provide “quality” and “give something extra” according to coach Yiannis Sfairopoulos, and with Brown’s previous experience in the EuroLeague the club feels the acquisition of the 33-year-old is the right move.
Brown was recently released by the Rockets in January, though the Rockets were determined to re-integrate Brown into the roster following the trade deadline. Moving in a different direction via trade at the NBA’s trade deadline, the door opened for Brown to consider options from abroad.
Olympiacos saw Brown as an attractive option due to his scoring ability, coupled with his experience in the EuroLeague, as the Erythrolefki look to make a deep-run in the competition.
Brown’s previous stint in Europe was highlighted by his 2012-2013 stint with Montepaschi Siena, when Brown averaged a league best 18.8 points-per-game to be named the top scorer in the EuroLeague.
Brown also had a short stint in Greek basketball with Aris during the 2010-2011 season.
