Yesterday, 27-year old Guerrero travelled to Athens, later undergoing medical examinations with Olympiacos and allegedly signing a three-year deal which has an annual salary of 400,000 euros. On Wednesday, Olympiacos confirmed the transfer with this official statement on their website:
“Olympiacos FC announces the signing of Spanish striker, Miguel Angel Guerrero.”
Further on in the article, Guerrero shared his emotions from the move to Piraeus, thanking the club’s supporters for welcoming him: “I would like to thank you for the welcome! I am really enthusiastic about coming here, I feel great playing for Greece’s biggest club. I am aware of where I have travelled to and this is a huge challenge for me; I know what Olympiacos means. I want to help my team win the championship again.
I would like to thank all Olympiacos fans for their welcome on social media and for the love already shown to me. I have realised how much they love this team. This gives me additional strength to give 100% for this team and win many titles.”
Guerrero spent the 2017/2018 season with Leganes in La Liga, contributing with four goals and three assists in 22 appearances. Previously in his career, Guerrero has only played in his native Spain, representing Albacete, Sporting Gijon and Leganes. After his contract expired at Leganes, he was available to sign as a free-agent.
