Olympiacos launch new Development Team for domestic competitions
Olympiacos have announced a new development team that will compete in domestic competitions.
Olympiacos are adjusting to life in the second-tier of Greek basketball, following the club’s demotion to the A2 Basket League at the end of last season.
The Piraeus side has now launched a new development side, named Olympiacos B – Development Team, to reflect the fact the club will compete with two different rosters in Greece and in Europe.
Olympiacos B, which is not to be confused with club’s academy, will compete strictly in the A2 Basket League and the Greek Cup.
Olympiacos will continue to compete with its regular squad in the EuroLeague, which could help keep the likes of Vassilis Spanoulis, Georgios Printezis, and Kostas Papanikolaou fresh for a deep run on the continent.
