Olympiacos’ possible opponents in Champions League playoffs

Olympiacos progressed to the UEFA Champions League playoff qualifying round after eliminating Partizan and AGONAsport brings you the Erythrolefki’s possible opponents in the final stage of qualifying.

Olympiacos played to a 2-2 at the Karaiskaki stadium against Partizan in their second leg matchup for the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round and progressed to the final stage of qualifying, defeating their Serbian opponents 5-3 on aggregate. The draw for the playoff qualifying round will take place on Friday at 1:00 PM local Greek time and 6:00 AM EST.

Olympiacos will be seeded in tomorrow’s draw holding the highest coefficient ranking from all 10 teams in the draw. Celtic, Kobenhavn, Maribor, and APOEL will be seeded along with Olympiacos and cannot be drawn with the Greek champions. The five unseeded teams and possible opponents of Olympiacos (and APOEL) include:

Hapoel Be’er Sheva
Slavia Prague

Regardless of the draw, Olympiacos will be the favorites to advance on paper with neither of the five sides striking fear into the hearts of the Olympiacos supporters. One name to mention is last year’s villains, Hapoel Be’er Sheva, who surprisingly knocked out Olympiacos in qualifying last summer.

The playoff round is the final stage of qualifying before the group stages of the UEFA Champions League and a possible elimination in this round, will result in an automatic place in the UEFA Europa League group stages. The matches for the playoffs will take place on August 15/16 and August 22/23.
