Olympiacos’ men’s water polo team captured the Greek Cup title for the 19th time, with a 14-8 win over Glyfada.
The final started off with the two teams being even with each other, as the score was 3-3 after the first period of play. Olympiacos then surged to an 8-5 lead by halftime.
After three periods of play, Olympiacos found themselves up 10-5. In the end, they proved to be too much for Glyfada, as the Erythrolefki took it 14-8 to claim their 19th overall Greek Cup title in men’s water polo.
The top scorer was Ioannis Fountoulis with five goals in the final. He was also named Greek Cup MVP for the third time in his career, which was extra special given that the final was played on his home island of Chios.
Alexandros Gounas and Konstantinos Mourikis each scored three goals as well. Olympiacos goalkeeper Josip Pavic was named best goalkeeper of the tournament.
