Panathinaikos confirm Kolovos signing
Panathinaikos have confirmed the signing of a three-year contract with Greek international Dimitris Kolovos.
On Thursday afternoon, Panathinaikos released this following statement:
“Panathinaikos FC announces the signing of Dimitris Kolovos. The Greek midfielder has signed a three-year contract.”
Kolovos commented on his transfer to Panathinaikos:
“I am very happy to become a member of the Panathinaikos family. This is a big club. I want to remain healthy in order to help the team achieve its goals. For me, Panathinaikos represents a great opportunity, and I want to prove that I can play at this level knowing how large this club is. I thank Mr. Dabizas and Mr. Donis for their belief which they have showed in me. I also express my thanks to the supporters who have sent me welcoming messages over the course of the past two days.”
Kolovos joins Panathinaikos as a free agent having departed Omonoia this summer.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has struggled for stability during his career so far. Nevertheless, he began to get back on track with Omonoia in the second half of the 2018/2019 season, contributing with four goals and one assist in 18 Cypriot First Division matches. Kolovos, who has played for the likes of Panionios and Olympiacos in the past, boasts one goal in eight appearances for the senior Greek national team.

In the first half, Federico Macheda tapped in from close range to give the Athenians the lead, before Giannis Bouzoukis promptly doubled the advantage with a clever header after Anastasios Chatzigiovannis’ shot had initially been saved. Nikos Vergos completed the rout in the second half when completing a counterattack:
