Panathinaikos part ways with Lasme
Panathinaikos have announced they have parted ways with Stephane Lasme as the Trifylli push to make room from the arrival of Adreian Payne…
After a little more than six months into his second stint, Stephane Lasme’s time with Panathinaikos has come to an end, the club has announced.
Lasme, who returned to Panathinaikos in the offseason, has been released by the club in a move to accommodate the recent arrival of Adreian Payne.
Greek Basket League rules, which limit teams to have only six non-Greek players on their active roster, forced Panathinaikos to make a move in order to accommodate Payne’s return to the Greek capital.
Lasme, who plays a similar role to Payne off the bench, made 11 appearances for Panathinaikos in the Basket League while also featuring 18 times for the club in the EuroLeague.
Panathinaikos thanked Lasme for his services in an announcement on the club’s official website, with the Gabon international now free to find a new club for the remainder of the season.
According to EuroLeague regulations, Lasme won’t be able to join another EuroLeague side this season having featured for Panathinaikos past the midway point (15th game) of the current season. At 36, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that Lasme calls time on his career and opts to retire.
