Panathinaikos improved to 26-0 on the season following an emphatic 111-57 thrashing of Lavrio away from home.
A strong 22-10 run in the first quarter helped put Panathinaikos in cruise control on the evening as Xavi Pascual’s men comfortably secured the club’s first-ever unbeaten season in the Basket League era.
Every Panathinaikos player managed to score on the night as Pascual did his best to utilize his entire bench, though it was the duo of Mike James and James Gist who led the team in scoring with 15 points each.
Lavrio, who finished the season in sixth place following Sunday’s loss, were led by Mackenzie Moore’s 18 points as the Miners finished the season their sixth loss in seven outings.
Panathinaikos enjoyed an unbeaten season during the 1979/1980 season when the Trifylli cruised to a 16-0 regular season but were unable to remain undefeated in a 26-game season since the league completed its expansion process starting in the mid-80’s.
Olympiacos is the only other side to complete a 26-0 season after the Erythrolefki enjoyed a perfect season during the 2010/2011 campaign, while Aris also enjoyed a 26-0 perfect season during the Alpha National Category.
Panathinaikos will now look to cruise to second consecutive league championship when the Trifylli begin their playoff campaign with a best-of-three showdown against Kolossos.
Lavrio, who are also playoff bound, will hope for a better performance when they begin their playoff series against Promitheas.
