Panionios drop first points
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 3
|Panionios||1 - 1||Panetolikos|
|Masoud 56'||Lopes 66'|
Panionios produced an uninspired display against Panaitolikos on Saturday and paid for it with a disappointing 1-1 home draw in this SuperLeague Matchday 3 clash at the Nea Smyrni stadium.
Michalis Grigoriou’s side were a shadow of their usual selves in a tepid first-half, but came out more determined after the half-time break and took the lead thanks to Iran forward Masoud Shojaei’s 56th-minute penalty.
Masoud had won the penalty after surging into the box before being felled by Panaitolikos’ veteran former Greece international defender Vangelis Moras.
But if anything the goal caused the home side to relax and regress into their disjointed style of play from the first half and they were punished seven minutes after the hour mark by Panaitolikos.
It was a goal made and finished in Brazil, with defender Farley Rosa picking out countryman Diego Lopes, who beat Leftheris Astras with a superb header.
Michalis Grigoriou’s side went into the match as the last team in the league with a 100 per cent record and although they failed to keep it going the Panthers lie third and are level on seven points with both leaders AEK Athens and second-placed Olympiacos.
Levadiakos salvage draw with late equalizer
|Levadiakos||1 - 1||Platanias|
|Mitropoulos 90'||Budnik 57'|
Meanwhile in Livadeia, both Levadiakos and Platanias are still seeking their first wins of the season after playing out a 1-1 draw in a closely-contested Matchday 3 clash.
The home side, who have recorded three draws, had Pavlos Mitropoulos to thank for a last-minute equalizer as they fought back to salvage a point after Ukrainian forward Yevhen Budnik (57) had opened the scoring for their Cretan visitors from Chania.
