PAOK completed their final move of the summer with the signing of Carlos Zambrano on a one-year loan deal from Rubin Kazan. The last minute deal was made official on Friday after FIFA reviewed the transfer deal paperwork in order to confirm that the deal was completed before the closing of the transfer window,

FIFA ruled that Rubin Kazan were at fault for the delay in the deal, a decision that favored PAOK, allowing the Dikefalos tou Vorra to complete Zambrano’s move to Thessaloniki.

Carlos Zambrano began his professional career in Germany for Schalke in 2008. He remained in Germany until 2016 before moving to Russia for Rubin Kazan. During his eight year stay in Germany, he enjoyed spells as Schalke (2008-2010), Saint Pauli (2010-2012), and Eintracht Frankfurt where he played from 2012-2016 making 101 appearances for the club. Last season he made 21 appearances with RUbin Kazan.

Zambrano is also an active international for his country, Peru, with 43 caps to his name and four goals scored. The 28-year old defender will be looked at as the leading figure in th PAOK defense for the new season.

Zambrano’s addition is one of three impressive signings by the Dikefalos tou Vorra on deadline day, after Adelino Vieirinha and Mauricio signed their new deals with the Aspromavri.
