PAOK complete signing of Ingason
PAOK have confirmed the arrival of Icelandic defender Sverrir Ingi Ingason, signing him on a 3.5 year contract after purchasing the player from FC Rostov.
Yesterday evening, Ingason was pictured arriving at Thessaloniki airport, before he underwent his medical examinations at the club’s training base. According to reports, Ingason penned his PAOK contract at 23:00, however the Super League leaders only officially revealed his signing on Friday morning.
PAOK released this following statement on their website:
“PAOK FC announces the acquisition of Sverrir Ingi Ingason from Rostov. The Icelandic defender has signed a contract with the Dikefalos until 2022 and will wear the number 4.”
Various Greek media sources reported that PAOK paid Rostov four million euros for Ingason’s services and have included a release clause of 20 million in his contract which expires on June 30, 2022.
This season, Ingason has played in 17 matches for Rostov in the Russian Premier League, contributing with two goals. In the past, the centre-back has represented Brediablik, Viking FK, KSC Lokeren and Granada, later joining Rostov in June 2017 where he subsequently impressed. Ingason participated at the 2018 FIFA World Cup with Iceland and his value is rated at 4.5 million euros.
